Oral Health Therapist

“My goal is to provide gentle, thoughtful care and help patients feel relaxed and confident during their dental visits.”

I am vey excited to be joining the Team Dental family and look forward to seeing patients at the 16th Ave and Te Puna Branches.

I am an Oral Health Therapist originally from the Bay of Plenty. Prior to studying, I spent five years working as a dental assistant, which sparked my passion for dentistry and gave me a strong foundation in patient care and communication.

I qualified as an oral health therapist in 2025 and have a particular interest in periodontal care, preventive treatment, and oral health education. I enjoy taking the time to get to know my patients and supporting them to feel informed and comfortable in managing their oral health.

Outside of work, I love spending time at the beach with my daughter and valuing quality time with family.

My name is Neive and I’m an Oral Health Therapist. I was born in Rotorua and spent most of my childhood here.

My hobbies include hanging out with friends, reading, adventuring into nature and I love the beach in summer time.

Oral Health Therapist

I am very excited to be joining the Papamoa Team and providing Hygiene and Oral Therapy services in Papamoa.

I moved from China to New Zealand at a young age, which has shaped my appreciation for different cultures and strengthened my ability to connect with people from all backgrounds. I value taking a gentle, patient-centred approach and enjoy building trusting relationships with my patients.

I graduated from AUT in 2025 as an Oral Health Therapist and I have a strong interest in preventative oral health and patient education, and I believe that empowering patients with knowledge is key to achieving long-term oral health. I aim to provide thorough, evidence-based care while ensuring patients feel comfortable and supported during their visits.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, practising yoga, shopping, discovering new food spots, and spending time with friends and family.

I am a dedicated Dental Hygienist who completed my studies in Concord, New Hampshire, USA, and became licensed in 2016. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work across a wide variety of dental practices as a temporary hygienist, often stepping in to cover schedules during holidays, maternity leave, or other absences. This diverse experience has allowed me to collaborate with many incredible dental professionals and adapt quickly to different practice environments. Most importantly, it has shaped my approach to patient care—helping me create a calm, welcoming experience so patients feel comfortable and at ease during their cleanings.

While I take great pride in providing thorough, high-quality clinical care, the most rewarding aspect of my role is educating patients about their oral health and helping them understand how closely it is connected to their overall health and wellbeing. I believe that empowering patients with knowledge enables them to take an active role in their care and make informed decisions that benefit their long-term health.

In 2025, my family and I made the exciting move to New Zealand in search of a better work–life balance and the opportunity for a new adventure. Outside of the dental office, I enjoy spending time in nature through gardening, rock climbing, tramping, and camping, as well as making the most of quality time with my family.

Healthy, happy smiles.

Emma is amazing!! It's been a while in between my appointments and Emma made it feel like it's only been a couple of months! Emma was great at explaining the procedures in great detail and always a step ahead with the $ questions. Great service and overall communication and friendliness. Thanks Team Dental

Nicholas Vertue

I have been seeing Emma Ward for an extraction of a wisdom tooth and fillings and I have to say that she is a very awesome and kind dentist. Of course, the dental practice is not my favourite place to go, but Emma really makes you feel comfortable and explains everything so everyone can understand, Emma has a lot of patience und always comes up with different options. The receptionist and Emma's little helpers are very friendly, kind and understanding as well, I do feel good visiting this practice.
